CBT with Chris

Potential clients who wish to arrange an appointment are offered a free of charge short telephone conversation to see if CBT is the most suitable approach for them.  If not, it is usually possible to provide details of alternative therapists.

If CBT does appear suitable an appointment will then be arranged to carry out a face to face assessment which lasts up to 90 minutes.  The purpose of this is to identify problems, consider treatment goals, provide an estimate of how many sessions will be required and give both of us the opportunity to consider whether we wish to work together.  It is just as important that you feel comfortable with your therapist, as it is that your therapist feels able to work with you.

If we decide to work together we will arrange to meet for an agreed number of sessions. Therapy includes regular  reviews when we will jointly assess progress and decide what further action, if any, may be needed.

There is no obligation to attend all the sessions arranged and you are free to terminate your therapy at any time.

Confidentiality

The trust between client and therapist is crucial to the success of the therapeutic process and I treat all information disclosed as confidential.  Any details my Supervisor receives are also confidential and we do not disclose client details to any third party without the client’s permission.  However, if in my opinion a client is either a danger to himself /herself or to others I do reserve the right to inform appropriate agencies.  In addition, confidentiality can only be offered within accepted legal boundaries.  It is my practice wherever possible to inform the client first should confidentiality need to be breached.

I keep brief notes on our work together which you are entitled to see.
